We’ve all heard if it’s smooth, supple skin we’re in search of, exfoliating and moisturizing is key. Salux Exfoliating Japanese Nylon Cloth
This amazing cloth is reusable, washable, and long enough to hold in both hands so you’re able to scrub your own back really well. For anyone who has ever been to a Korean Spa, this exfoliating cloth is similar to what they use. It really, really exfoliates, so for those with super sensitive skin it might not be the best option. But for everyone else, it’s great. Use this everywhere but especially on elbows, knees and ankles.

Kiehl’s Creme Des Corps
The best all around body lotion. Leaves skin silky with a subtle sheen and is un-fragranced so it won’t interfere with your perfume.

Jordan Seban L’guile Oil This genius product is totally organic and has a subtle neroli fragrance due to the natural oils in it. It works to protect hair and skin by giving back vital nutrients. I like to use Creme Des Corps first and put this on top for extra moisture, especially on elbows and knees. Hi Julianne,

I currently work in a small office, in a very rural area, and I am starting to get paranoid about my lack of movement throughout the day! I can sometimes go hours without moving… and the worst bit is I don’t even realise! Eeeeek!

Do you have any ideas or tips for people who work in office environments and staying fit?! I need to move more but am struggling to find a way to do so within a small office. Any advice would greatly appreciated!

Hi Chloe,

I recommend getting a Fitbit! I own one and love it because it will tell you to get up and move around when you’ve been sitting still or have been inactive for too long. The Fitbit app is super user friendly and you can adjust your settings for certain time increments that work best for your schedule. For example: every hour remind me to get up & move! When the alarm goes off you simply stand and do some squats, jumping jacks or walk around the office.

Here are some step-by-step exercises that you can do at your desk (even in a small space). All you need is your desk chair. The exercises range from beginner to advanced.

**Please execute with caution & avoid using a chair with wheels.**

Lemon Garlic Shrimp Salad

I love everything about the way Lori Zanini approaches health and wellness — especially in the kitchen. Her recipes are so fabulous your whole family will be impressed, and so beautiful you’ll feel like a professional chef.

As a registered dietitian, Lori really knows her stuff. She loves helping people discover that eating healthy food doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice taste! Seriously my kind of girl.

Serves 4 (2 cups salad + 1 shrimp skewer each)

Prep Time: 15 minutes + 10 minutes to marinate
Cook Time: 10 minutes

FOR THE CROUTONS
• 4 slices high-fiber whole-grain bread
• 1 teaspoon extra-virgin olive oil
• 1 large garlic clove, peeled and halved

FOR THE SHRIMP
• 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
• 3 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
• 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
• 3 garlic cloves, minced
• ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

FOR THE SALAD
• ¼ cup plain 2% Greek yogurt
• 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
• 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
• 1 teaspoon anchovy paste
• ½ teaspoon Dijon mustard
• 2 garlic cloves, peeled
• 8 cups bite-size pieces romaine lettuce
• 1 large cucumber, halved lengthwise and thinly sliced crosswise

When looking at this space I see many quick, easy and inexpensive ways to refresh and spruce up the room. Before changing out any furniture or adding any accessories, there is a quick to-do list that will ensure a fresh new slate to work with.

1. Painting the walls a soft white will instantly refresh the space and add a new lease of life and the perfect backdrop when adding in other textures and materials to create a well balanced space. Try Benjamin Moore’s Simply White

2. The fireplace is the main feature of the room, so it is important to either work with it to add to the overall aesthetic of the room or to mask it. I always believe less is more. Instead of introducing another color or bold print that may become tired and fall into the trend of cement tiles that is a trend that is already getting old, use a simple natural hand made tile to add texture and interest. Look for Zellige Tiles in white.

3. Mirrors in any space are a must! Not only does it make your space feel larger and add depth its a great way of bouncing light around the room. Hang a mirror over the fireplace for maximum sophistication.

4. When it comes to plants and natural elements a tree is the best way to add life to any space big or small. The current tree in this room needs an update to reflect the soft, muted feel of the furnishings that I think work best in this space.

5. When in doubt do less — not more — and strip back strong elements first before adding more to avoid a messy result. Stick to neutral large pieces and introduce color through muted pillows, textiles and greenery.

Ask Jules: How To Give More

Being charitable is one of the highest priorities in my life. For many, the word “charity” might translate to giving money or providing funds for those in needs. Charity can mean many things. It’s donating on a smaller level — for example a few cans of non-perishable foods. It’s volunteering your time. It’s really just helping another out in any way you can. This email from Ky is a great reminder to find ways in which we can all be more charitable.

I would love to do more charity work and donate money to as many places as I can — unfortunately, my friends spread out over different states and are all super busy and unable to do charity work. I would love to do fundraisers earning money for children’s hospitals, animal shelters, protecting endangered species, helping foster homes and even donate money to fund research for illnesses. I’d rather give money than have money — unfortunately I don’t know where to begin with organizing and starting a fundraiser of any kind! Any ideas?

Hi Ky,

I think it’s awesome you aspire to do more charity work. It’s also honorable and sweet that you would rather give what you have to others than have it yourself. There are so many ways you can raise funds for those who need it despite your busy friends living far away. As far as getting started, I say you focus on one mission at a time — at least for now while you’re just getting started.

If I were in your shoes, I’d search for a local organization that focuses on a cause I feel especially connected to. From there, I’d look into events they’re putting on (marathons, walks, and so on) to see how I could participate, help raise funds or become an event volunteer. In addition, I’d go to the websites of other organizations I’d like to contribute to, click on the “contact” tab, then call or email them to see how how you could be of service.

One of my biggest passions is spreading the joy of being healthy and having a positive attitude, so Derek and I came up with an in-person workout event last year that has become something truly amazing. It’s my way of giving back to something I care about, and hopefully each one of our events has impacted those who attended to go home and continue spreading the positive vibes.

Please keep me posted on your awesome endeavors! I know you’ll impact your community in a big way very soon.
