Thanks to Beyonce’s new album, I’ve had one thing on my mind since it’s release: Lemonade! Is there anything more refreshing and sweet than a tall, chilled glass of lemonade? No pool day or BBQ is complete without it, in my opinion. Since I’m all about putting an exciting twist on a traditional classic, I set out to find a next level lemonade and I found it on Confectionalism!
Next to a twist of lemon, coconut water is another favorite of mine when it comes to quenching my thirst. Add another ingredient I adore, lavender, and now we are talking!
• 1 1/2 cups fresh squeezed lemon juice from about 9 lemons
• 1 3/4 cups sugar
• 8 cups coconut water
• 4 cups water
• 1/2 recipe Lavender Simple Syrup (recipe below)
Lavender Simple Syrup Recipe:
• 2 cups sugar
• 1 1/2 cups water
• 3 tablespoons dried lavender
• drops of violet food coloring (optional)
Place lemon juice, sugar, coconut water, and water into a pitcher and shake or stir vigorously until all the sugar is dissolved. Confectionalism’s directions suggest we shake because it aerates the lemonade and makes a nice head on top.
Pour 1/2 of the lavender syrup into the pitcher and stir. You can add more or less lavender syrup to your personal taste. Start with 1/2 of the lavender syrup recipe and add more or less to taste.
PS: If you’re of legal drinking age and looking to turn this drink into a drank, coconut rum or vodka would be the way to go.
