Happy (Healthy!) Birthday, Brooks

When I was planning for Brooks’ birthday party, I made sure we had all his favorite foods on hand. Typical pool parties have hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill, potato chips with creamy dip, and a sweet, sugary cake — I’m sure you’re thinking, YUM! I was, too.

But this was Brooks’ day, and I wanted to celebrate him and his healthy lifestyle. So instead of the typical fare we grilled steaks and salmon while snacking on great veggie-based salads. And you know what? It was still delicious. Who knew?!




In lieu of a frosted fluffy cake, we went the extra mile and built a veggie cake out of celery, cucumbers, grape tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, and some cream cheese!


We all had a great time and most importantly, Brooks had the best day!

  2. Ooooh! I don’t like all veggies, but building up a cake with healthy snacks is so much better.. Though I’d honestly rather go for a sugar free cheesecake <3

  3. Wow! I wish I had the willpower to have a veggie cake. I have a huge sweet tooth which is my downfall. So, kudos to him for his healthy eating! It looks awesome, btw. The veggies and salad also look delicious. 🙂
