My 7 Fitness Must Haves

There are many moving components when it comes to getting in a good workout. Staying hydrated, eating the right foods to fuel your energy, and knowing what you’re doing in order to avoid injury are the most important elements to consider. Wearing clothes that allow you to move freely and choosing the best shoes for your foot and type of exercise are major ones, too.

I’ve found when it comes to working out it’s the minor details that often provide even more support, allowing me to have a more effective workout. And when I have all these things prepared and at the ready, I can hit the gym before I have time to make any excuses. 🙂

Here are the 7 things I have to have to get my sweat on!

1. Headbands
There’s nothing more annoying (or distracting) than having to slow down or stop to readjust my hair to keep it from falling in my face. Strong ponytail holders with a good grip and sweat-wicking headbands are a must!

2. Comfortable Socks
Wearing the wrong socks can ruin your run in many ways. The right pair are tight enough to stay put, fit perfectly so they won’t slip around, and made well in order to protect your feet from blisters while keeping your feet comfortable and dry.

3. Wireless Headphones
I used to run with headphones that attached to my smartphone. The wire was constantly smacking me somewhere, the ears would fall out, it was a bit of a disaster. Bluetooth headphones are a total game changer! Makes me wonder how I ever used anything else?

4. Arm Bands
The less I take with me on a hike or run, the better. I’m a fan of these arm bands to carry my keys, phone, photo ID, money, etc.

5. Face Wipes
I always keep face wipes in my gym bag to freshen up on the go. This quick step is an essential one to keeping my pores clean and skin clear. The great things about wipes is they have something for every skin type, so whether you need something that’s cooling and cleansing, an exfoliator, or if you need something with a little more moisturizer, there’s one out there for you!

6. Eco-Friendly Water Bottle
We all know how vital water is to our health. I like to keep in mind how bad plastic water bottles are for our planet. These reusable MPG water bottles are perfect.

7. Fitbit Alta
This isn’t just a workout necessity — I wear this all day long! It’s the perfect thing to track your movement and keep up with your progress during the day, week and even the year. It also comes in lots of cute styles so wearing it is never a fashion compromise.

  1. Have you seen flipbelt? It’s a sleek way to carry your phone or your keys. I love it. I also wear it when walking my dog. I can stick a couple of treat and a poop bag in there. Love your space you have created here Julianne.

  2. Hey, Jules! Awesome post! Wristbands are a must for me. I like fast-paced high intensity workouts (and hot yoga) which usually make me sweat a lot and I rely on wristbands/wrist towels and sometimes even regular towels to keep the sweat out of my eyes.

  3. I absolutely LOVE Urban Halo headbands. I always had trouble finding headbands that wouldn’t slip out of my hair, but I have never had a problem with these. They are perfect for working out, but even when I wear them all day for work (which I do often because the patterns are great), they don’t budge. Here’s their link 🙂

  4. I am someone that sweats a ton especially when I dance and workout. In addition to drinking water, what I also do to stay a little cooler is fill an empty spray bottle with cold water and squirt myself throughout the workout. It doesn’t prevent me from sweating altogether, but it does help me feel a little cooler. 🙂
