What’s more divine than a long, relaxing soak in the bath? Not much. Do you know someone deserving of a little rest and relaxation? These DIY bath bombs are a thoughtful, feel good, smell great gift anyone will appreciate (even if that deserving person is you).
• 1 cup baking soda
• 1/2 cup citric acid
• 1/2 cup Epsom salts
• 1 tsp. water
• 2 tsp. essential oil (my personal favorites — rose, lavender, jasmine, sandalwood, chamomile)
• 3 tsp. oil (I like olive oil)
A few months ago I asked the girls from E. Interiors to share their tips on designing the perfect space. I love their style and was thrilled to have them back again to talk about their new home office space! Even if you go to school or an office every day, it’s important to have a space in your home where you can sit down and really focus.
The E. Interiors’ office upgrade is so cute — I hope it inspires you to create the work space of your dreams!
Hey everyone! It’s Megan here, half of the mother/daughter design duo behind E. Interiors, and we are thrilled to be back here on Jules’ blog to share a recent office makeover I did for my own home.
Thrift shopping takes patience, persistence and often, a creative eye. Sometimes what you see isn’t necessarily what you’ll get as an end result. For example, a beat up picture frame might look like a piece of junk at first glance, but with some care and restoration it could end up becoming a work of art itself. The same goes for clothing. I was advised to pay attention to prints and patterns more than shape and size because a great tailor can turn almost anything into a perfect fit.
As much as I love looking for treasures, I’m no expert when it comes to seeking out a diamond in the rough. Luckily Mr. Kate, an expert in all things thrift, is giving us some of her best advice when it comes to shopping in thrift stores. And in honor of it being National Thrift Day, Kate threw in one of my favorite DIY projects featuring painted patterned mugs!
I’ll let Mr. Kate take it from here. Happy thrifting!
There are great festivals and other happenings going on all around the world that some of us only get to experience via social media. I’m lucky to have had incredible experiences at Coachella, but there are many things I’ve yet to do. The #FOMO (fear of missing out) is real!
I love the idea of recreating your own version of an experience when you can’t make it to the real thing. What a genius idea!
When I was planning for Brooks’ birthday party, I made sure we had all his favorite foods on hand. Typical pool parties have hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill, potato chips with creamy dip, and a sweet, sugary cake — I’m sure you’re thinking, YUM! I was, too.
But this was Brooks’ day, and I wanted to celebrate him and his healthy lifestyle. So instead of the typical fare we Continue Reading
Anyone who follows me on Instagram knows how much I travel with my furry babies, Lexi and Harley. I love watching them get to explore new territories, whether it’s kicking up sand at the beach or licking freshly-fallen snow. As much fun as it is venturing away from home as a family, I know my first priority is always to keep them safe. I am constantly keeping an eye out for products meant to protect my pups while we are away from home.
Regardless if it’s a road trip or a quick drive to the store, dogs are just like us, and should really be wearing a seatbelt. One hard press on the brakes is enough to send an animal tumbling. I can’t bear the thought of what could happen in the event of an accident. Continue Reading
One of the things I love most on my website are the challenges. Whether it’s to high-five a stranger or name three things you like about your reflection, the intent is to help us grow, gain perspective, smile, feel good, and make others feel good, too. Until I received this email from Hals, I hadn’t thought about turning the tables and inviting you all to challenge me. Thanks for the idea Hals!
My name is Halie but everyone just calls me Hals, I’m 18 and I have a challenge for you! I love everything you stand for, kindness, health, confidence and overall positivity. However, I would love if you would promote cruelty-free products. It’s super easy to find brands that do not use animal testing. One of my favourite brands is Pur Minerals, they have the cutest lip colours! I know you strive for a healthy body which most cruelty-free brands are made from all natural ingredients! I think all your fans would agree with me when I say Harley and Lexi are the luckiest dogs in the world! You have so much love for them and I know you are a true animal lover.
I always participate in your challenges and strive to share kindness everyday so now I’m asking you to participate in my challenge! Spread awareness of how easy it is to be cruelty free! These poor animals do not have a voice. This is a new passion of mine and you have inspired me to stand up for what I believe in. Please help me make a difference.
Thanks for everything Jules!
Hello there, Hals!
I love how passionate you are about this topic. It’s one thing to believe in something and quite another to do something about it — which you clearly are doing! I am totally with you when it comes to all things cruelty free and with that said: challenge accepted!!
As Hals mentioned, it’s very easy to be cruelty free. To save time at the store, we can all do a quick online search to confirm which products don’t participate in animal testing. I found a great resource here.
Please find below a list of everyday products I love, from brands who love animals just as much as I do:
With Father’s Day only a few weeks away, I’m beginning to rack my brain for creative ways to celebrate my dad. When it comes to gifts in general, I think it’s important to put some thought into the present by considering the quirks and tastes of the person I’m gifting. My dad can bust a move and sing a tune like nobody’s business. You should hear him sing, “Tenderness.” It kills me every time! He and my uncle Terry performed that for our family on our houseboat when we were kids. It’s one of my best memories!
Considering my dad is adventurous, spontaneous, and not to mention the biggest goofball on the planet, I’m searching for something just as fun as he is.
Below is a list of gift ideas I found that would be great not only for mine, but for all the silly dads out there! Let me know in the comments if you have any great suggestions as well.
Brooks and I can’t stop talking about the best trip of our lives: Africa! While visiting Kruger National Park, we stayed at what is now my most favorite hotel ever. Lebombo Lodge is absolutely incredible. It feels like you’re staying in a tree house made of glass, where below you can see everything from hippos, impala and crocs roaming around.
I couldn’t wait to wake up at 5am (seriously!) because that’s when we got picked up by Andrew, our tracker, and our driver, Chris. In an open car, they took us out into the wild where Andrew would spot cheetah, leopards, elephants, lions, buffalo and more. We even found rhino which was the hardest to find because there aren’t many left — they’re sadly becoming extinct. Continue Reading
I’m constantly on the look out for unique home furnishings that wouldn’t be found elsewhere. I personally love going to someone’s home and seeing their personality reflected through their decor. This “trash to treasure” chair DIY from the super creative Mr. Kate is the perfect plan to create a piece that is authentically you. The branches on the back of the chair are beyond brilliance! I also love the gold chain details. The possibilities here are endless. Try your local thrift store or ask around to see if anyone has something in their garage. It’s surprising how much stuff people stash away and forget about.
