New York Fashion Week: A Recap

Just a few days ago I was lucky to be in the big apple for New York Fashion Week. There is no other time quite like NYFW, when the frenzy of excited fashionistas buzz in, out and all around the city. The fashion was exceptional on the runway and in the streets.

Every time I visit the big apple I make sure to get a big slice of heaven from Joe’s Pizza! It’s my favorite spot!

Recognize this gown? The moment I saw this Marchesa design I fell head over heels in love. If only I knew then I’d be donning the very same dress just a few days later to the Emmy Awards! Talk about a Cinderella moment.

The shows I saw were exceptional, and the sneak peek of seasons to come gave me much to look forward to! On the flight home, I decided to take note of some of the trends that I caught my attention, which we can expect come Spring.

• Off-the-Shoulder Dresses and Cut-Out Tops
I’ve never met a peasant top or dress that I didn’t like. They’re the perfect throw on and go pieces that look charming and sweet. They are also weather versatile and easily transitioned from day-to-night by swapping sandals for boots.

I still can’t get over the fact that these have been making a repeated comeback over the past few years… but I’m not complaining! I saw on the runways one-pieces in fitted leather, casual denim wide leg, and super feminine eyelet. Which one would you go for?

• Tons of Tie-Dye and Ombre
This summer everyone was doing mermaid hair (remember my week as a pink-hair-haver?!) and this spring, it seems like we’re putting the color back on… well, our backs, at least.

Statement Earrings
Many of the shows featured models wearing major ear candy. I like the idea of wearing a basic black or white tee with substantial mega-magnificent earrings!

What trends do you see yourself strutting into spring? I know we still have a few seasons before we get there, but it’s fun to think about!

PS: My fabulous dress is in the main image is by Zuhair Murad!

  1. Wow! You are stunning in that black dress in the first photo! Love it! I love the off-the-shoulder trend. It is sexy in a subtle way. I just purchased an off-the-shoulder sweater dress that I can’t wait to rock with boots. It’s awesome because you can dress it up or down. 🙂
