Some of you may already know who I am but for those of you who don’t, Hi! I’m Spencer Barnes, Julianne’s friend and make up artist for nearly a decade. While Jules is away, she asked me to drop by her site and share some of my pre-wedding skincare tips. We specifically thought you might be interested to know how Julianne and my other clients prepare their pretty faces for some of life’s biggest events.
Whether you’re a bride-to-be or you have another type of major event coming up, one thing we all want on our big day is clear, glowing, gorgeous skin. This 10-Day Countdown is my guide for getting ready to put your absolute best face forward.
10 DAYS TO YOUR BEST SKIN EVER
10 Days Away
Steer clear of unnecessary sun exposure from here on to avoid unwanted tan lines or sun damage.
9 Days Away
Be sure to continue drinking plenty of water daily to keep your skin hydrated and deter toxins from the skin’s surface. It truly makes a huge difference!
7 Days Away
Get a facial treatment to purify and refine. Be sure the service is one you’ve gotten before so you know it is tried and true.
3 Days Away
Brows are always super important. A great set of well-designed brows can do wonders for the architecture of the face. I feel it is essential to go to a professional for the best results. A pro will give you the right shape to fit to the architecture of your face.
If you’re getting a spray tan, exfoliate today (2-3 days before you spray.) It’s a misconception you should exfoliate the day of or night before. Doing it this way will ensure your tan will go on more evenly.
2 Days Away
Scrub or exfoliate your face today for the last time until your event.
1 Day Away
Get a manicure and pedicure today rather than tomorrow.
I’m all for getting a spray tan if it’s a lighter more natural golden finish rather than a deep tan. I advise you test this shade 3-weeks prior to make sure it works for you. Let the solution fully develop before rinsing it off and be sure to use a soap that won’t strip the color.
Use a great hydrating mask tonight. If this is a new product, test it out at least four weeks prior to make sure your skin reacts well.
As hard as it may be with all the excitement, give yourself plenty of rest. The last thing you’ll want for your event is puffy, red, or irritated eyes.
The Big Day!
Here’s a little secret I tell all my bride friends: if you can, schedule a massage the morning of your wedding. It will make you feel refreshed, relaxed, and allow you to enjoy the day even more.
And most importantly – have fun! The best beauty tip of all is to find ways to stay present and connected to the overall experience so you can enjoy all of the magical moments throughout your big day.
