A few weeks ago, Move Beyond landed in one of my favorite cities: Nashville! To me, Tennessee means family. My mom, sister Marabeth, her husband Michael, and their son Aidan came to the show along with our cousin Heidi, her husband Matt, and their six (six!) kids. Matt was beyond surprised when I picked him out from the audience to dance on stage with the amazing Move dancers. As I suspected, being the great sport he is, Matt got really into it! It was hilarious. I asked Marabeth to share her great photos and favorite moments from the night with you and because she’s the best, she jumped on it! Take it away, sis.
Attending Move Beyond was more than just a family affair. I also had a ton of friends and clients, plus so many other people there to support the tour. We all got to go backstage after the show to snap fun pictures and hang with the dancers. It was so funny when Derek came out in his towel and photo bombed a picture!
This week on Dancing With The Stars, Derek and I performed a dance that will certainly be one of my most memorable. To me this piece was so much more than a dance. It was an opportunity for us to tell our story while expressing our deepest emotions, the ones we’ve protected the longest and the most.
The magic and beauty in dance is that I am able to express my heart through movement. This opportunity is something we can all practice in our own way. It doesn’t have to be dance, either. You can express yourself through movement by painting, hiking, singing, or even talking. Whatever you’re feeling shouldn’t be held in. Let it go through movement in a way that works for you!
Many of you might be able to relate to our dance which represented some of the tougher times my family went through when I was growing up. I can truly say those testing times are the ones that brought us closer and made us who we are as individuals and as a family. I mean this from my heart — whatever you are going through is going to work out in time and it will be for the best. Just hang on tight and hold on tighter to the ones you love.
As many of you saw today on Good Morning America, my brother Derek and I are beyond thrilled to announce our third tour: MOVE – BEYOND!! Whether you’ve been to the first, second, or both of our sold-out tours, or even if this will be your first time — you and your expectations will be blown away! This show is going to be like nothing we’ve ever done before.
With MOVE Beyond, we want your imagination to run wild and free along with ours. The show will feature inspiration pulled from the elements — earth, wind, fire and water — as well as an all new stage and incredible choreography. We cannot wait to share it with you!
I look forward to MOVE’ing with YOU at one of our 50+ shows! Tickets go on sale this Friday, December 16th. We are also offering VIP packages, giving you the chance to attend pre-show parties and hang with me, Derek, and the dancers! Check MoveLiveOnTour.com for ticket info and more details.
The tour kicks off April 19th in Akron, OH and continues through Chicago, Boston, New York, Nashville, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and more before concluding in Santa Rosa, CA. See the full tour dates and locations here! Continue Reading
How exciting was last night’s first show of the season on DWTS?! I am so happy to back! I really missed the dancers, judges and crew. The beginning of the show is really special because you get to see the contestants go through the motions of stepping out onto the stage for the first time. Watching them take that first step and just going for it is the greatest. I was really impressed with what I saw! Definitely some serious competition out there this season. Continue Reading
What’s better than a birthday party? A surprise birthday party! This week I pulled a fast one on my brother Derek for his 30th birthday. Since the day was smack in the middle of finale preparations for Dancing With The Stars, we had it on set and in between rehearsals.
As you know, I’m all about a theme party so of course there were props galore. For his present, my family and I pooled together to send Derek to Hawaii, so naturally my theme was all things aloha! I had a blast stocking up at the party store. I scooped up a tablecloth with blue waves, fish printed plates, shark napkins, Tiki lights, toy lobsters and balloons, lots of balloons! The best thing I found was hands down the giant crab costumes. How could I resist? My mom and Shirley were voted in as the lucky crabs. Did I mention it was nearly 90 degrees outside?
We invited Derek’s closest friends, some of our family and our DWTS family, too. I was super stealth and sneaky decorating the lot quickly, trying my hardest not to get busted. Well little did I know, the surprise was on us… Derek was almost an hour late! My mom and Shirley were stuck sweating it out in the massive crab outfits for over 45 minutes! Continue Reading
Last night was nothing short of incredible! I always look forward to the finale show because we get to revisit all the dancers from the season and reminisce some of their best moves. My favorite part of the night was of course performing with my brother alongside Sia to her beautiful song, “Elastic Heart.” It was emotional and powerful but most of all — it was fun!
A little insider info: It was Sia who contacted Derek and said she wanted him to perform to her song. Meanwhile, Derek and I have been prepping for MOVE Live on Tour, and we already planned on putting this song in our show. Derek always envisioned it as a romantic love story but I saw it in a way that expressed the difficulties that come with a family’s love. In our lives, we’ve had experiences where we want so badly to keep the peace in our family. The lyrics say, “I’m like an elastic band. If you pull too hard, I’m going to snap.” We came up with a concept based around family dynamics and how a family’s love can be difficult, too. Continue Reading
