Jamie Chung’s Jewelry Line “Sachi” Is Delicate, Beautiful and Classic

The first time I saw these Sachi pieces, it was love at first sight. I fell even harder when I learned that Sachi means “happiness” in Japanese and “luxury” in Korean. I can definitely say the name lives up to its meaning!

Designed by the talented and insanely stylish Jamie Chung, this delicate and lovely jewelry line certainly brings the happy with pieces featuring stars and daisies. Adorn those fun designs with beautiful stones and some bling, and any woman is guaranteed to feel luxurious. Continue Reading

Your Official Poolside Checklist ✔️✔️✔️

If I could do all my daily activities from inside a pool, I would. Breakfast, phone calls, workouts…you name it. Give me a big enough pool float and I will find a way to never leave. With the whole country dealing with 90°+ temperatures, I think we can all agree that the water is the place to be. So what else do we need to make sure we do this whole swimming pool thing the right way?

Lucky for you, I’ve compiled a handy list of all the things you’ll want to pack to maximize your splash time. First, don’t forget the obvious: your swimsuit (trust me, I’ve done it). One-pieces have made a serious comeback recently, and I am all for it. So many cute prints! Next, you’ll need to complete your outfit with some h20-friendly slides and a breezy cover-up.

Let’s take a minute to talk about a key player in this scenario: the sun. It’s a wonderful thing that gives us good vitamins and natural highlights, but the sun can also do some serious damage. Before you put anything else in that great new summer tote, throw in your sunscreen, sunglasses, and a sun hat. We have to protect your beautiful skin, hair, and eyes! Leave home without any of these necessities and your day could take a major turn for the worse. And don’t forget to make sure you also beat the heat by drinking plenty of water!

And when it’s time to dry off, lay out that towel, spray some sea salt in your hair (the BEST hair is pool hair), and hang out with a good book for awhile. Sounds like just another day in paradise!

How To Find Your Dream Wedding Dress with Anita Patrickson

Hi there, fellow Julianne fans! Anita Patrickson here. As Julianne’s friend and stylist for over six years, we’ve had great times in even greater gowns! This year, I worked with Jules on finding the one dress that mattered most: her wedding dress.

Julianne and I went back and forth, discussing it quite a bit. Of course we’ve selected many gowns for her before for special events like the Golden Globes and Dancing with the Stars (I’m fairly certain she has worn every style and color under the sun). However, it was important to Julianne that this dress would be a different type of special. She wanted something timeless, clean, and elegant: a dress she could look back on years from now and still be awed by its classic beauty. I couldn’t agree more!

Because celebrity clients have tried on a million gowns before, they have more pre-planned idea of what they prefer for their wedding gown. But with my girlfriends and non-celebrity clients, they are in completely new and exciting territory. Often, these brides-to-be will end up picking a dress they never thought they would wear. My first piece of advice is to always keep an open mind and try on every style — you will probably be surprised what looks and feels right! Continue Reading

Ask Jules: Prom Confidence

The Ask Jules email below brought to my attention how similar it can be to prepare for prom and getting ready to walk the red carpet. As daunting as both can be, it’s important to maintain a healthy mindset, dress in a way that makes you feel your very best, and remember to be kind to yourself. You deserve it!

Hello Julianne,

I just wanted to tell you how much you inspire me through your kindness and motivation. You’re one of the people I look up to most in life and I just want to thank you for showing me how to help others and be the best version of myself! Secondly, I am a senior in high school and prom is coming up so I have a few questions that I’d love to know your advice/opinions about.

My first question is about the dress. I am not a very materialistic person so it is not too important to me that I have a super expensive, fancy dress, but at the same time I still want to feel pretty and princess-y. Do you know of any relatively inexpensive options or any tips on how to feel confident in a dress?

I’ve been eating well and trying to live a more holistic life lately, which has helped a lot to boost my confidence, but there are some days when I still struggle with that. Do you have any tips that you use on red carpets or for formal events that keep you feeling happy and confident even after multiple hours? I know the red carpet and prom are completely different but I think some of the concepts are similar.

Also if you have any input on makeup and hair you’re willing to share I’d love to know!

I know you’re a super busy person and I’ve asked a lot (sorry for that) but if you do read this I would be super, super, appreciative and thrilled if you responded. Thank you for everything!!!

Thank you,
Maddie

Gorgeous Nails At Home: 3 DIY Trends You’ll Love For Spring

According to eco-chic nail stylist Debbie Leavitt, the look for manis this spring is all about layering and depth. If you’ve got a fashion magazine (or five — no judgement) within reach, chances are Debbie’s hands are behind the manicures on the cover page and featured story. She doesn’t just know what the trends are, she basically starts them!

And, I’m feeling very lucky because Debbie created three exclusive inspirations for spring, just for us. She also included step-by-step instructions so we can recreate them at home. It’s a perfect weekend project!

A Few Tips Before You Begin
Tip 1: Wait for polish to dry between steps. It makes it easier to create clean lines.

Tip 2: Dusty mauves are a big color this season. Pop it up with a contrasting bright and bold color like hot pink or orange!

Tip 3: To create “monogram” letters like the “J” and “H,” use a nail dotter. (You can use a toothpick if you don’t have a nail dotter.) The easiest way to use either is to lightly touch the tip of the pen or pick into the edge of the polish. The more polish on the tool, the harder it is to make precise dots. Continue Reading

My Beachelorette Fashion Guide

If you follow me on Instagram you already know I just had my epic bachelorette party. For my BEACHelorette, my closest girlfriends and family took a trip with me to lovely Mexico. This weekend away was so special and unforgettable! It was so much more memorable than almost any vacation I’d ever taken because I was surrounded by some of the most important people in my life.

In addition to the fun we had dancing, boating, and swimming, we also played with our style. Although my captain’s hat tops them all, everyone brought their cutest bathing suits, cut out dresses, fringed accessories and cover-ups. Continue Reading

A Night In La La Land

Earlier this month, my lovely friend Nina celebrated her birthday with a La La Land inspired party. (Have you seen the movie yet?!) She looked gorgeous in a blue dress similar to the one Emma Stone’s character, Mia, wore during the musical scene, “Someone in the Crowd.” I wore a yellow number like the one seen on the movie’s poster. We all had a great time going with this theme. Derek was looking especially dapper in that newsboy cap! This night was one to remember, just like the film.

A post shared by Derek Hough (@derekhough) on

I had so much fun getting ready for Nina’s party that I pulled together some pieces to add to my everyday wardrobe that are inspired by the film’s colorful 1940’s attire.

The Perfect Winter Updo

I don’t know about you, but winter weather makes my strands slightly unruly. The second my hair gets a hint of the chilly air it decides it’s just gonna do it’s own thing. My feeling about this is if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em! Rather than fight the frizz I just go with it.

With that in mind, I’m in love with this sweet style created by Grace Crivello at the Nine Zero One Salon in West Hollywood! The bobby pins look like an art installation. It’s the perfect style for a regular day or I’m thinking it can be dressed up for a holiday party by using fancier pins in place of regular ones. Continue Reading

Steal My Look For Less

Lexi, Harley and I were on our way to work on a top secret project (which I can’t wait to share with you guys!) when I took a step back to recognize how much I loved this look. This fringed graphic sweater feels like a dream and the white oxfords made me feel extra fancy.

This style can be recreated for literally any budget! You don’t need a million bucks in the bank to look like — you guessed it — a million bucks! Check out these excellent options for feeling extra cool in your everyday… Continue Reading

Get This Look: Fishtail Top Knot

A few weeks ago on Dancing with the Stars, I wore a sleek gold dress with a dark red lip and slicked back hair fashioned into a dramatic fishtailed top knot. I knew I loved this look, but I didn’t realize that you all loved it too until I got home and read your comments (thank you, btw!).

There were countless questions about the braided top knot and how stylist Chad Wood hooked it up. I figured it would be best if the creator himself shared his step-by-steps to top knot perfection.

Take it away, Chad!
