If I could do all my daily activities from inside a pool, I would. Breakfast, phone calls, workouts…you name it. Give me a big enough pool float and I will find a way to never leave. With the whole country dealing with 90°+ temperatures, I think we can all agree that the water is the place to be. So what else do we need to make sure we do this whole swimming pool thing the right way?
Lucky for you, I’ve compiled a handy list of all the things you’ll want to pack to maximize your splash time. First, don’t forget the obvious: your swimsuit (trust me, I’ve done it). One-pieces have made a serious comeback recently, and I am all for it. So many cute prints! Next, you’ll need to complete your outfit with some h20-friendly slides and a breezy cover-up.
Let’s take a minute to talk about a key player in this scenario: the sun. It’s a wonderful thing that gives us good vitamins and natural highlights, but the sun can also do some serious damage. Before you put anything else in that great new summer tote, throw in your sunscreen, sunglasses, and a sun hat. We have to protect your beautiful skin, hair, and eyes! Leave home without any of these necessities and your day could take a major turn for the worse. And don’t forget to make sure you also beat the heat by drinking plenty of water!
And when it’s time to dry off, lay out that towel, spray some sea salt in your hair (the BEST hair is pool hair), and hang out with a good book for awhile. Sounds like just another day in paradise!

My sister Marabeth and her girlfriends are always getting together to do fun and creative activities. I’m having serious FOMO from their latest get-together, where they did a sweet twist on an ordinary potluck. The hostess had sugar cookie dough on hand and asked everyone to bring their favorite cookie ingredients. Together they made combinations of cookies to enjoy warm out of the oven and package-up for friends and family. What ingredient would you bring to this party? I’m partial to the holiday M&Ms…
I’ll let Marabeth tell you how they made their delicious “Christmas Bars.” Let me know if you try them at home!
My girlfriends and I had so much fun making these simple Christmas Bars! We had everyone bring their favorite cookie ingredients to make a fun new creation together and share! It was a blast!! I bought my sugar cookie mix already packaged, but if you want to make yours from scratch I’ve included a recipe below. We added white chocolate chips and M&M’s. It was so super easy — and even more fun!
Basic Sugar Cookie Recipe:
• 1 1/2 cups of softened butter
• 2 cups of white sugar
• 4 eggs
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 5 cups all-purpose flour
• 2 tsp baking powder
• 1 tsp salt
A few years ago over Thanksgiving, my family recorded and posted a crazy fun dance routine we made the kitchen. We were just goofing around as per usual! Not long after, Maria Menounos posted a video of her friends and family dancing with choreography. She tagged Derek and I, challenging us to a dance battle. Other celebs like Amber Riley, Mark Ballas, Kristi Yamaguchi, and many others from around the world started submitting videos, too.
When Christmas 2013 came around, we challenged everyone to another battle — suffice to say they did not disappoint! The best part about it was that it wasn’t just celebrities getting involved. People all around the world were taking the time to connect with their family and join ours in the challenge. During the holidays, things can be difficult and stressful with all the traveling, clashing personalities and so on. This was special because it bonded families together in a fun, creative way.
After the consecutive years of success of the viral Instagram videos, ABC decided to pick it up as a special, which will air sometime this year!
Hands down my favorite moment of the night was posing for pics with some of my favorite Disney characters! I finally got to hang with Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy AND Donald. Disney night on Dancing With The Stars was especially magical, because it brought out the kid in all of us.
A little voice within me screamed, “It’s really them!” when they came out. I don’t think that ever goes away. I hope it never does!
Everyone did an amazing job last night. It must have been all that Disney magic in the air!
Easter is over but the grocery store aisles are still lined with boxes and boxes of pink, yellow and baby blue Peeps! They’re just sittin’ and starin’ at you through the cellophane, all five-bazillion of them. I’ve always wanted to take them home, but never knew what on earth I’d do with all those Peeps… Until now.
I used to think there wasn’t anything better than s’mores. But there is! Peep s’mores! What?! I know! Get yourself a box of those beauties and treat yourself to my new favorite springtime snack.
