A Card As Wonderful As My Mom

One of the many traits I’ve received from my Mom is my handwriting, more specifically, my signature. It’s funny how even the little things like how you cross your “T” or curve your “J” can be passed down from generation to generation. It’s something I notice often and pay extra attention to when I send a card to my mom. That’s why I was so excited to partner with Hallmark for Mother’s Day — they always have the perfect way to celebrate a loved one!

There is something extra special about receiving a handwritten Hallmark card. Unlike an email or text, a card is touching since it’s truly personal and physically real. I try to send cards on all holidays, but it’s extra important to me that I send my mom a card on Mother’s Day. After all, I did get my handwriting from her, so what better a way to tell her how much I love and appreciate her to the moon and back?

My mom is always present to support her kids and grandkids. I look to her for strength and inspiration on a daily basis. Even though they’re not my moms, my sisters are exceptional mothers themselves. Without a question Sharee, Katherine, and Marabeth will be receiving cards of appreciation, too!

I’m so happy to have discovered Hallmark Signature cards because much like the very notion of sending cards, this line is beautiful and timeless. I chose to send my Mom this floral edition because like her, it’s vibrant, feminine, upbeat and lovely!

What card will you be sending mom this Sunday?

The Perfect Winter Updo

I don’t know about you, but winter weather makes my strands slightly unruly. The second my hair gets a hint of the chilly air it decides it’s just gonna do it’s own thing. My feeling about this is if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em! Rather than fight the frizz I just go with it.

With that in mind, I’m in love with this sweet style created by Grace Crivello at the Nine Zero One Salon in West Hollywood! The bobby pins look like an art installation. It’s the perfect style for a regular day or I’m thinking it can be dressed up for a holiday party by using fancier pins in place of regular ones. Continue Reading

Warm Apple Spiced Sugar Cookies

I’m so excited to have Meghan Rosko back with one of her amazing cookie recipes and design tutorials! She always makes me feel like I could make something beautiful, and no matter how my batch turns out I always have a blast trying!

Besides, even if your icing skills aren’t going to win awards anytime soon, the cookies are still insanely delicious.

Fall is one of the best seasons for flavor combinations, and what better way to celebrate the leaves falling and cooler temperatures than with a Warm Apple Spiced Sugar Cookie recipe.

To add an extra layer of fall fun, I decided to decorate these cookies into festive little pumpkins!

Not-So-Ugly Sweater Party

Ugly Sweater parties have become a staple holiday soiree. So much so that stores have started carrying (and selling out of) these crazy tops! I am all for an activity where we can all get silly and not take ourselves so seriously. Bring on the hideousness!

Here are a few of my faves I found:

Eggnog French Toast

Every December trip to the grocery store I find myself lingering in the dairy section a little longer than usual. To buy or to not buy the eggnog, that is the question. I’m not a huge fan of the stuff, but it feels so lovely and festive to have on hand. I wondered if there was some way I could incorporate eggnog into one of my favorite recipes because a hint of nog is something I could get into.

It turns out, there are quite a few ways to work this ingredient in! I found this merry twist on French toast from allrecipes.com, and I can confirm it’s basically the best breakfast treat ever. Continue Reading

4 DIY Projects That Make Perfect Gifts

Allow me to get this off my chest: HOW IS IT DECEMBER ALREADY?!! Seriously, was it not just July? Okay, okay, end rant. Time to start thinking about a serious holiday season task: presents. I’d love to find a cute craft I could create and gift to my friends. Something that is thoughtful, useful, and festive.

Last year, a friend of mine gifted mason jars filled with everything you need to make holiday cookies. It was wrapped in a pretty bow and included a little tag with printed directions. I could tell she took the time making these and I thought it was a great idea. I loved the look and size of the mason jar and knew there had to be other ideas out there. Turns out, there are many!

Here are some great gift ideas I found using mason jars. What do you guys think? Do you have a DIY go-to gift? Continue Reading

Thoughtful Thanksgiving DIYs

One of my favorite holidays is almost here! I LOVE Thanksgiving. Not only for the scrumptious feast and the opportunity to surround ourselves with loved ones, but also because it’s another chance to take a step back and truly think about all there is to be thankful for.

When it comes to decorating this year, I want to do something special that goes beyond being decorative. I want to create décor that evokes thought and gratitude. I did some digital digging and found some impressive inspirations. Thought I’d share them here with you! Continue Reading

Patriotic Party Planning

What’s better than decorating for a holiday soiree? Decorating with delicious food for a holiday soiree! It just so happens that some of the tastiest treats come in hues of red, white and blue. Coincidence? Nah.

For my 4th of July celebrations, rather than getting crafty with crepe paper and other non-edible centerpieces, I am all for decking out your digs with festive delicacies.

Layered jars filled with sweets are one of my favorite decorative dishes to serve (and eat!) at July 4th parties. The individual mason jarred sweets are easy to make, look beautiful, are fun for guests to indulge in and taste so good! Continue Reading
