I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: my sister Marabeth knows how to throw a party! A few weeks ago, she and her girlfriends got together for a Pizza and Pajama Party — but because we’re talking about Marabeth, you know they took things to the next level.
Rather than ordering delivery or popping some frozen pre-made pies in the oven, the ladies created a pizza bar complete with all the fixings to make their own personal slices of yum.
Not only is their pizza bar concept way more fun, it is a much healthier route to stuffing your face with pizza since you control the portion size by rolling out as little or as much crust and cheese as you prefer before piling on fresh veggies.
I mean, it’s basically a salad bar! But better.
Pizza is definitely one of my favorite food groups. What’s that? You don’t think pizza is a food group? Well, let’s just agree to disagree.
Whether I go with a classic cheese or pile my pie high with yummy toppings, it’s always good to me. When I heard people taking about replacing the dough with a cauliflower crust, I was skeptical. How could it possibly taste the same? Then I gave it a go and surprisingly, I liked it! Is it chewy, doughy bread? No. Is it totally the same as my usual bite of pizza? Nope. But it is delicious, just in a different way.
I try not to ever feel guilty for what I eat, but sometimes I can’t help but think, whoa — I just cleared my plate. My second plate. With cauliflower-crusted pizza, you can consume your heart out because you’re grubbing on good for you foods that closely resemble a splurge.
Definitely try this one at home and let me know what you think!
On route to Chicago, the buzz on the MOVE Tour bus was all about the anticipation of one thing: deep dish pizza! And let me tell you, the city’s slices did not disappoint. Nothing else compares to digging into a piece of warm pie, stacked high with savory fillings.
I’ve been fantasizing about what I’ll include in my own deep dish when I’m back to cooking in my kitchen at home. My ideal personal pie would include heaps of veggies, and as always, I’d make it as healthy as possible — without sacrificing the taste, of course!
Sometimes you need a night in, and a pizza party can be just what the doctor ordered. Besides, if you load it up with veggies, a pizza is really just a few steps away from being a salad, right? 🙂
I like to make mine (mostly) from scratch, but you can speed things up with store-bought dough. You can — and should! — get crazy with your toppings. It is YOUR party, after all!
